Local climate solutions powered by faith communities

Advocacy Day Workshop

Join us online on January 13th, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. for an interactive conversation about regional climate goals and FACS' diverse advocacy opportunities. Learn how to get involved in meaningful, impactful, faith-based action! We are honored that author, environmentalist, and activist Bill McKibben will be delivering opening remarks on the climate crisis and the importance of local organizing.

Advocacy Day Book Discussion

Join us online on January 13th, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. for FACS' first interactive book discussion. We will discuss Bill McKibben’s 2019 book Falter: Has the Human Game Begun to Play Itself Out? Come explore how we as people of faith can continue to find hope and care for each other -- especially when it feels like the world is faltering. This event is 20s & 30s friendly! All are welcome to attend.

Zero Waste Campaign

FACS is launching a communications-based Zero Waste Campaign in the new year! Check out FACS' Zero Waste New Year Resolution below. Watch out for educational materials on our social media platforms, and get ready to join the Zero Waste movement. There is so much we can do as individuals and faith communities to reduce waste production, and we need your help to advocate for waste reduction!

Energy Efficiency Panel

What is the cheapest, most environmentally friendly and lowest greenhouse gas emitting source of energy? Energy that is not used!

Join us online Wednesday, January 5 from 7:30 to 8:30 pm for a three-part panel discussion. Panelists include Eric Goplerud, FACS Chair; Susan Stillman, Virginia Sierra Club Renewable Energy Vice Chair; and Senator Jennifer Boysko, Virginia 33rd Senatorial District Representative.

EOY Giving Campaign: Our Collective Future

There is still time to give to our EOY Giving Campaign: Our Collective Future. Thank you to everyone who invested for the future for ourselves, our children, our grandchildren, and beyond.

20s & 30s FACS Coalition

We are happy to announce the launch of the 20s & 30s FACS Coalition. FACS will be launching book discussions, sustainability on tap events, and other social and informational events specifically geared towards 20s & 30s Northern Virginians. This coalition will complement the established FACS Advocacy Hubs.

NOVA to Zero

Make sure to join our newly-named Facebook group NOVA to Zero. The goal is to reach carbon neutrality by 2050, if not sooner. How can you help? Pledge to give in 2022 or donate now to help power our work throughout Northern Virginia!

Be sure to visit our online calendar to see when Hub monthly meetings happen, what FACS events are on the horizon, and what community events are being planned by other groups.
