Lenten Season has Begun

The calendars, developed by our friends at Interfaith Power & Light (DC.MD.NoVA), come in versions for Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland congregations, and in both English and Spanish.
You’re encouraged to invite your communities to distribute them as bulletin inserts or share the link for download during worship on an upcoming Sunday, and on Ash Wednesday 2/22. Each year, these calendars go up on refrigerators and bulletin boards across our communities, and open many conversations about environmental stewardship and climate action in our region’s Christian churches.

TH!RD ACT: Stop Dirty Banks

Join us for a National Day of Action on March 21! Third Act (Bill McKibben's new organization,) partners, and allies across the country are staging public non-violent demonstrations and holding events to deliver a strong message to the banks funding climate destruction: if you don’t move money out of fossil fuels, we will move our money out of your banks. The DC region event will start the evening of March 20 with a vigil and orientation at a local church. To find an event, use the + and - buttons to zoom in to your area, then click on an event icon to learn more and sign up!

FACS' Monthly Sustainability Tip

Are you interested in installing solar panels on your roof? The Braddock District newsletter released a link to a solar map of Northern Virginia. Plug in your address in the top left, and view the heat map of your roof. The more red you see on your roof the higher the potential impact of solar panels your house could have.

Inspired to give beyond time and talent? Donate today and support FACS' work.
